Corn-fed Godzilla Breaks into the 9's

LAUNCH IN 3 ... 2 ...

I wrote about the how a Switzer R1K set the mph-in-a-1/4-mile record last week, but the R1K wasn't the only high-powered Switzer GTR in attendance at Norwalk.

Switzer's eco-conscious E900 GTR Nissan showed up to play, too (minus Amuse wing) and did not disappoint - blasting across the 1/4 mile mark at over 144 mph in just 9.8 seconds!

Video, below.

"GREEN" MEANS "GO!"

I'm not sure what the overall 1/4 mile records for et and mph on E85 are, but if Switzer's E900 isn't the fastest corn-burning GTR PKG available, it can't be too far off.

1/4 mile MPH Record Falls to R1K

9.38 SEC., 156.44 MPH

Tym Switzer's R1K GTR Prototype rocketed across the quarter-mile in just 9.38 seconds on its way to setting a 1/4 mile speed record of 156.44 mph last weekend at NHRA-sanctioned Summit Dragway in Norwalk, Ohio.

Watch the video, below, for more.

WELCOME TO THE 9 SEC. CLUB

Despite having more than 1000 awhp on tap on C16 racing fuel from VP, Switzer's missile remains flexible enough to be driven on public roads, in keeping with Tym's stated goals of building a GTR that - like the company's P800 Porsches - is flexible enough to be driven every day, without asking the driver to sacrifice reliability or smoothness, even in stop-and-go traffic.

Congrats to the team, the car's owner, and to Tym, who summed up the achievement in his usual, humble style: "we spun all through 1st and 2nd, so there's still a couple tenths in there."

Switzer and the R1K will be hitting the track again soon ... expect more records to fall when they do.

1-2-3-4-6 at 2010 Moscow Unlimited!

FASTER CLIENTS ARE HAPPIER CLIENTS

It's been a full year since Switzer's Russian crew finished 1-2-3 at the 2009 Moscow Unlimited - but a lot can change in a year. For THIS year's Moscow run, for example, it wasn't a Switzer P800 GTR Nissan on top, followed by a Switzer 997 Porsche turbo ... it was a Switzer 997 Porsche turbo followed by a P800 GTR Nissan!

How times have changed - LOL!

The video above shows the happy winners, who took on all comers, including a "1000 hp" GT3 turbo conversion from 9ff (which had to be trailered home). I shouldn't speak for them, but I think they're at least as excited as we are for next year's event ... expect more from our Russian friends after the snow melts in March.

This is What 800 AWHP Sounds Like

CHECK OUT THAT 4-5 SHIFT AT THE END

Last week, the crew at Switzer Performance went down to David Buschur's Mustang Dyno to put some new development turbos through their paces.

The result?

806 HP | 723 TQ

That's right: a staggering eight-hundred-and-six wheel horsepower. Even assuming a hugely conservative 10% driveline loss, that's OVER 895 HP at the crank!

We'll have full details and more technical info. coming soon - stay tuned!

Boulder Nissan Takes Switzer P800 to 191 at Texas

SWITZER P800 GTR NISSAN TAKES ON TEXAS

191 mph on 93 octane – wow!

After winning the GTR class at the TX2K10 shootout, our hot-shoe driver Jason pushed his Boulder Nissan | Switzer P800 GTR to more than 191 mph at last weekend's Texas Mile!

Keep in mind, Jason and his tech Eric built this car with an out-of-the-box P800 kit from Switzer Performance, with Switzer's “canned” roadrace calibrations and tuned to 93 octane … and the car ran STRONG at two grueling back-to-back weekend events, proving that Eric can wrench as well as Jason can drive, for sure!

Congratulations to the Boulder Nissan crew – you made us all look great, and it seems like you had fun doing it, too. We can't wait to hear about your next adventure with Godzilla!

Switzer P800 Runs 10.19 1/4

We just can't love our customers enough - hot on the heels of one customer running back-to-back mile runs at over 190 mph in the hot and humid Florida "air", we have another customer making waves in the 1/4 mile: running a blistering 10.19!

Great job, Oleg!

Getting Closer: 10.4 sec. 1/4 mile

A few weeks ago, some other shops started posting 10.4 sec. 1/4 mile runs and 134 mph trap speeds and claiming GTR "records" at sanctioned tracks.

We've never claimed our GTR tuning packages would be record-breakers, and we certainly haven't set them up to be drag-racers (in fact, we developed the GTR PKG specifically as a road-course trackday PKG!) but that doesn't mean our 800 hp pump-gas car P800 GTR Nissan can't get down the road ... witness the runs above, consistent 10.4xx second runs at 132-133 mph.

I know, I know: these runs are not on a track, not sanctioned, etc. They're also not too far off that record, considering this is an off-the-shelf package that's been proven in 20-odd customer cars around the world, either!

Enjoy the video!
